Chris and Tania Cubberly of Red Tail Farm are starting a new organic farm in Old Mill Creek, Illinois. Our new farm is named Tempel Farms Organics. We will be transitioning to certified organic over the next two years while growing 50 different vegetables, cut flowers, pasture raised chicken and range fed eggs.
In 2011, Tempel Farms Organics’ 65 acre field will be eligible for organic certification. Until then, we will be growing as if we are certified.
That means: NO harmful herbicide or pesticide use.
NO petroleum based fertilizer use (Tempel has plenty of “Lipizan” based fertilizer!), and our broilers and layers will be raised on organic corn and soy based poultry feeds with no antibiotics or medications and will have plenty of fresh air, sunshine and vitamin rich pasture greens.
